Caution: St. Louis weather in July is usually very hot and muggy (with mosquitos and ticks). Check the weather forecast and plan accordingly. Tip from MO UR4Me - bring your own soap; the Missouri State Park bathrooms don't have it!

Cuivre River State Park

Troy, MO (NW of UMSL, off Hwys 61 and 47). Cuivre River State Park lends a wilder, Ozarkian flavor to the otherwise predominately agricultural landscape of northern Missouri. One of the state's largest parks, both primitive and modern campsites are available, and Lake Lincoln offers swimming, boating and fishing and a great sandy beach. Three natural areas -- areas noted for their high-quality ecosystems -- feature native prairie, sinkhole ponds, woodlands and a clear, rock-bottomed stream is one of the finest undisturbed streams left in northeastern Missouri. Tent and electric RV sites available. There is an 8-box cryptology series (you will need to decode the clues in advance) between here and UMSL. The 1,225-acre park features a variety of outdoor activities for visitors of all ages, including canoeing and fishing in the adjoining Meramec River. The shaded picnic area near the boat launch offers views of the Meramec and the surrounding scenic bluffs.
